Gearing Up for the Climb: Choosing Your Lineman Tools
As an American Lineman College student, you have two choices when it comes to your climbing and hand tools: borrow or buy.
Borrowing Tools from ALC:
-
This is a convenient and budget-friendly option but purchasing your own set is highly recommended.
-
ALC provides high-quality tools (with exception to climbing boots, students must purchase their own boots) from reputable brands like Buckingham, Bashin, FallTech and Klein.
-
Just remember, borrowed tools need to be returned in good condition at the end of your time at ALC.
Purchasing Your Own Tools:
-
Owning your own tools gives you greater flexibility and independence.
-
Demonstrates to employers you are committed to this industry.
Average Tool Kit Cost:
-
Expect to spend between $2,500 and $3,500 on a tool kit. While the initial cost can be significant, reputable vendors like Farwest Line Specialties and JL Matthews offer financing options to help ease the burden.
