After serving in the U.S. Army, Mike Hennesey started his career by attending Northwest Lineman College’s (NLC) Electrical Lineworker Program (pre-apprentice program). After graduating from NLC, Hennesey attended and completed two apprenticeship programs simultaneously (Pacific Gas & Electrics and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). Since then, Hennesey has worked as a journeyman lineman, trouble investigator, and electrical superintendent.
In 2006, Hennesey returned to NLC as an employee, where he held various roles, including Electrical Lineworker Trainer, Campus President, Vice President, and Chief Growth Officer.
After a 15 year career at NLC, Hennesey retired and started American Lineman College, where he continues developing training programs, delivers training and consults on major projects for power construction and utility companies worldwide.
Hennesey is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), has taken specialized classes on Advanced Project Management and Leadership at Stanford University and holds a Higher Education Teaching Certificate from Harvard University .

Worked directly with the U.S. Department of Energy to developed the nations first Smart Grid Training Certification and Smart Grid Training Lab.

Developed and led the creation of NLC’s Utility Training Services which has resulted in the training of over 80,000 apprentices and journey level lineworkers worldwide.

Led and consulted on major international training initiatives (Afghanistan, Africa, Caribbean, Latin America and others).

Co-authored Quanta Services Grounding manual and coordinated advanced grounding training to over 25,000 trade personnel.

Led and expanded NLC’s campus footprint by opening additional campuses in California, Texas, Florida and South Carolina.
